...I want something with Tuareg and Anemone. Possibly featuring their parents? Because they were the most adorable nonexistant children.

She was terrible with magic. She got on Clef's last nerve almost every time she showed up to lessons with no progress despite her insistence that she practiced, she did! Her brother, on the other hand, was amazing at it. And she ended up scuffing the floor with her shoes in frustration every time Clef let her go to work with her Tuareg more. Everyone knew when she'd been scolded because of how very deeply it showed on her face. All day from the lesson until bedtime, always.

And she sat next to her father swinging her legs angrily off the edge of her bed and telling him how bad she was at it and how certain Mama would be upset because she'd never be great at magic like she was when she first came to Cefiro and leaning on Ferio's shirt while he pet her hair.

But she didn't know that at the same time Tuareg's head was resting in his mother's lap, as he muttered on about how he wasn't as brave or confident as Anemone and how he wished he could shoot a bow as well or make his father as proud.

And when she crawled into her brother's bed (insisting that it was to keep him safe from nightmare monsters) their parents stood outside the door and smiled softly at each other, glad that of all the things they seemed to be fabulous at getting wrong when it came to being together, they managed to do two things perfectly.

They were four and fighting over what to watch on TV. Percy ended up bonked on the face with the remote and crying, and before Ken and Miles were even able to get to them, Castor was pressing ice to his brother's lip and crying that he was sorry and he promised to never do it again.

They were six and fighting over who blew out the candles on the birthday cake. It ended up with them both faceplanting in the icing and Mama laughing so hard he couldn't breathe while Miles frowned at him disapprovingly.

They were thirteen and they don't even know what they were fighting over anymore. But they remember saying "I hate you" at the same time and the way the blood in both their bodies went cold. They never apologized, but they both knew it wasn't true and it would never happen again.

They were sixteen and Castor was making fun of Percy's low grade in math when Percy elbowed him exactly wrong and Castor collapsed right then and there. It was two weeks before Castor could come home from the hospital.

They never fought again.

He's taller than her. The change is overnight, really, once he realizes the world won't snap him up like a carnivorous plant the second he lets his guard down, and he's taller than her. He can also pick her up, though he doesn't try. She says he's grown handsome, but that doesn't matter too much to him. He's taller than her.

And that moment, when Czes realizes that Cefiro really is an entirely different playing field, when he thinks no one is watching, Fuu thinks she sees him really smile for the first time.

Impossible.

On that rare day that he comes home, he's rarely sober. He's always broke. So Arm takes advantage of the fact he's fallen asleep before she got home, reminding herself that she doesn't hate him, tossing the fleece blanket at the foot of the bed over him before falling into bed herself, asleep in seconds.

When he wakes up, maybe he's too drowsy to realize it, but he pulls the blanket to cover them both. He waits an entire ten minutes before nudging her awake and, for the first and probably last time, asking her to make breakfast.

They were still very tiny when they tugged at Ferio's pant legs and begged him to tell them a story before bed. They'd heard all of Mama's stories already and they couldn't understand a lot of them. (It's hard to understand stories about pigs when they'd never seen a pig before, or fairy tales about men who turned everything they touched to gold. What would they need that much gold for? If he really wanted to stop, couldn't he have made himself better with a really, really strong wish?)

Finding it hard to resist bright, desperate eyes, he, of course complied.

Which was how Fuu found the both of them under her skirt not an hour later, complaining that they couldn't sleep alone tonight. Please please please, could they stay in her bed?

Long after they'd fallen asleep and the room was dark, Fuu asked over their heads what he'd told them about. He shrugged, and wouldn't answer further before falling asleep.

Arm and everyone in that damn house for Christmas dinner

The dryer? Okay not the dryer. The refrigerator? Not there, either. Not in any of the cabinets or the bath tub or under the beds, not behind the couch. Not on top of the fridge either.

Not outside. All the doors are still locked. Not in the toy box, not in any of the luggage.

... Did a giggle just come out of the dishwasher?
